The court rejected the lawsuit of the former investigator Stepanov against the FSB

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow refused the former investigator of the Investigative Committee Igor Stepanov in a lawsuit against the FSB. According to RAPSI, the former head of the department of international legal cooperation of the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee demanded to clarify the reasons for his business trip to South Ossetia during the war with Georgia in 2008.

“The court decided to leave Stepanov’s lawsuit,” the judge announced the decision.

Stepanov, who himself represented his interests in court, said that he had repeatedly applied to the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Defense with a request to receive the text of the order, according to which a group of investigative authorities in August 2008 was transferred to Beslan, and then to Tskhinvali. Having not received a response to requests, Stepanov turned to the FSB.

"I turned to the FSB, which is subject to the border service and which undoubtedly records the movement of large groups of employees of the Investigative Committee with armored personnel carriers and military vehicles. Having not received an answer, I was forced to go to court," Stepanov said.

The representative of the FSB said that the competence of the service does not include the solution of this issue, so Stepanov’s request was redirected to the TFR. However, according to Stepanov, he never received notifications of redirecting applications.

At the end of November, it became known that Stepanov, who previously, among other things, became an expert at Open Russia . Earlier, I invited lawyers to work on draft new laws. The organization explained that Stepanov has ideas regarding changes to the Constitution and other laws, so he will be able to join the experts who are already dealing with these issues.

In addition, the former official of the UPP will verify laws and by -laws for compliance with each other. Along with this, he was instructed to conduct investigations, the results of which will be published on the organization’s website.

In 2010, Stepanov filed a complaint to the Supreme Court to the decree of President Dmitry Medvedev on the allocation of the UPC from the Prosecutor General’s Office to the Special Department - the TFR - however, the complaint was rejected. A year later, the official suspended the service and elected a deputy of one of the municipal meetings of the Kaluga region - which one, the publication is not specified. This year, Stepanov’s term of office expired, but the official did not go to work in the TFR.
