A court in Moscow arrested 12 alleged members of a terrorist organization

The Moscow Meshchansky Court has ruled to arrest 12 alleged members of a terrorist organization detained during a special operation in Moscow, RAPSI reports .

According to court spokeswoman Yulia Bocharova, all detainees were charged with participation in a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). The 12 accused were given a preventive measure in the form of detention until January 30, 2017.

On the morning of December 7, it became known that law enforcement agencies had detained more than 25 suspects of extremism and aiding terrorism in Moscow and the Moscow region. The operation was carried out by the FSB together with Center “E” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and special forces. It was reported that arrests took place at more than 10 addresses; the detainees were suspected of having connections with the “Wahhabi underground.” Later it became known that we were talking about the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir, banned in Russia. Searches were carried out at the places of residence of the detainees, during which extremist materials and literature were confiscated.
