Yuri Glazychev was given five years in prison

The court found a well-known Novosibirsk businessman, a former deputy of the regional council and ex-leader of the ER regional department, Yuri Glazychev, guilty of fraud with loans to purchase shares in GUM OJSC. He received five years in prison.

The Zaeltsovsky District Court sentenced Yury Glazychev to five years in prison, the press service of the court reported on December 7.

Earlier, Glazychev was sent to a pre-trial detention center. He was suspected of fraud with a loan from Uralsib Bank for almost 1 billion rubles. He was charged under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (large-scale fraud). The case was transferred to the Zaeltsovsky District Court back in July 2015, but Glazychev did not attend a significant part of the hearings, including due to illness, follows from the documents on the court’s website.

Yuri Glazychev is a well-known businessman in Novosibirsk, a former politician. Since 1996, he has served as President of OAO TsUM Novosibirsk. In 2000-2006, he was active in politics, he was the secretary of the political council of Zheleznodorozhny and later of the regional political council of United Russia. From 2005 to 2010, he was a deputy of the regional council, was a member of the United Russia faction, and worked on the state policy committee. In the last convocation of the Legislative Assembly, he could not be elected.

In relation to Glazychev, another case was previously initiated - under Part 1 of Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers). According to investigators, in 1998-1999, the businessman, together with Vladimir Efimenko, who died in 2014, illegally removed the property of the Novosibirsk Central Department Store from the control of shareholders through affiliated structures. The damage was estimated at 142.6 million rubles. The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Novosibirsk closed the case on February 6, 2015 due to the statute of limitations. Uralsib was the main creditor of the Glazychev and Efimenko structures in the purchase of TSUM and GUM.
