Page spent three years in Moscow, where he was responsible for opening the Merrill Lynch office and was an adviser to key operations with Gazprom, RAO UES and other companies. He is a graduate of the US Naval Academy, has a degree of MVA at the STERN Business School at the University of New York and is a certified financial analyst.

In July, the American media, talking about the trip of Trump's adviser to Moscow, paid special attention to the fact that in a speech to students and journalists, he criticized American policy against Russia.

After that, the US intelligence agencies began to verify Page’s possible connections with Russian power structures. According to the sources of The Washington Post, during a summer trip to Moscow, he met with the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin and the former head of the presidential administration Sergei Ivanov . It was assumed that Page could promise some sanctions from senior officials in the event of the election of Trump.

On November 14, Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Trump. According to the Kremlin’s website, the interlocutors agreed that the current state of Russian-American relations is “extremely unsatisfactory” and necessary “active joint work to normalize and remove constructive interaction on a wide range of issues”. In particular, the need to develop trade and economic ties was emphasized.

Putin and Trump also agreed that for both countries the number one enemy is “international terrorism and extremism”. "In this vein, the issues of resolving the crisis in Syria were also discussed," the Kremlin says.

The Russian leader assured Trump in his readiness to "build a partnership dialogue with the new administration on the principles of equality, mutual respect and non -interference in each other's internal affairs."
