And also the Soviet intelligentsia, "which understood everything," but "was silent." And the multinational Soviet people, the victorious people, the Bogatyr, who was in shameful inaction. Whereas "it was necessary to take the streets and support the Soviet Union, to support Gorbachev."

Since those whom Mikhail Sergeyevich calls "Westerners", what to take? How, in fact, Bush with Mitterin and Koles could really help him in the fall and in the winter of the 91st? As for the people, he really did not go out to save the Soviet Union. As one man. Everyone sat home, starting with convinced Stalinists and ending with the most stubborn supporters of the monarchical imperial idea. The reasons, if you seriously reflect on why none of the citizens of the USSR acted in defense of their state, people had different people.

The Communists, who had not yet forgotten about August, were simply afraid to stick their nose out into the street. Nationalists, Russians and all others, united the joint hatred of Gorbachev, and they already sensed their future authoritarian holidays under the banners of independence, in the wild. Democrats hated the “scoop” with all their hearts in any of its varieties and hoped, especially in Russia, that ambulance and inevitable economic reforms would bring freedom and prosperity with them. Without realizing that, together with reforms, robbery and devastation, the process of discrediting liberal ideas will be launched, and comrades from the special services, who then served on the patch, will take advantage of the fruits of reforms in about ten years.

The future in those months was clearly visible, through pink glasses raised from the asphalt, but the fact should be fixed: people did not go out onto the streets and squares to protest against the liquidation of the Union. Singing Gorbachev, who gave them freedom and still cannot forgive betrayal.

But then, when reforms with defaults became the past, completely different power explained to the people how he was divorced during the years of perestroika, depriving his homeland. During the largest, as it turned out, geopolitical disaster of the twentieth century. And the same people, together with the young shoot, the first unbroken generation in free Russia, believed in the new government, calling the traitors of the unfortunate hump with Yeltsin, which is completely offensive to Mikhail Sergeyevich. And it came to the point that the different Mikhalkovs and Degtyarev strive to attract them to the court for the collapse of the great power. True, they remember them, about the last and first presidents, rarely, except in the days of anniversaries, like yesterday. But with an unheated malice.

All this is very sad to realize. True, the fact that over the years has become more and less Russians regrets the collapse of the USSR over the years. In 2000, a clear majority was nostalgic - 75%, and later this figure decreased, and today 56% of respondents are yearning for Soviet power. However, hope is almost crossed out of the numbers, but the facts based on a different, ideological foundation.

If you limit yourself to Russia, then the event that happened 25 years ago joyfully or with silent anxiety approved the people torn to freedom. The people who lived for seven decades under the rule of the ideas of utopian, under the oppression of mass repressions and fear. Soft until modern fascism is based on natural human properties: hatred of strangers, the desire for expansion, the cult of heroes of the national-patriotic war, religious obscurantism. The myth of the glorious empire that we have lost is just right here, and there is nothing surprising in the fact that Soviet symbols are now being imposed with the monarchist and a whole Ministry of Culture under the leadership of the presidential administration built new Russia according to classical Italian patterns.

Utopia lasted seven decades with us. Fascism, as historical experience shows, does not know time until the external power stops it. However, in the nuclear era, it is much more difficult to call on such regimes than in the last century, and it is possible that the angry idealist Mikhail Gorbachev is still right in his own way. After all, he certainly did not dream of either world dominance, nor about forcing neighboring peoples to humility with the help of annexes and aggressive wars. He was a liberator for all Eastern Europe, and if, losing his head, he shed blood, then only within the boundaries of his state. Immediately realizing what he did, recoiling, repenting, withdrawing troops.

Therefore, he probably observes what is happening with such despair, and everything is looking for the guilty, stipulating the innocent. "Westerners", intelligentsia, people. Not forgetting at the same time and thanks to Mikhail Sergeyevich for not clinging to power and left on time.
