The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation responded to the publication of the second part of the report on the investigation of the independent commission of the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA) under the leadership of Professor Richard McLaren, which refers to the mass use of doping by Russian athletes with the support of state structures.
The 144-page report released on Friday, in particular, indicated the participation of ministry officials in the “systematic and centralized” hide of doping and manipulations with the samples of Russian athletes.
"The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation will carefully study the information presented in the report in order to form a constructive position. At the same time, the Ministry of Sports of Russia with all responsibility declares the absence of state doping support programs in sports and will continue to fight doping from the position of" zero tolerance ", the agency said.
It is noted that the state policy (program) of the country is the fight against doping, and not its support. It includes the legislative consolidation of the ban on doping in sports, the coordination of all interested organizations of the Russian Federation in order to struggle against doping in sports, the conduct of educational and scientific activities, ensuring the independent functioning of the national anti -doping organization, as well as the introduction of criminal liability to include the use of doping in sports.
“The competent authorities of the Russian Federation conduct an investigation for all circumstances set forth in the first part of the Report of R. McLaren, and the Ministry of Sports will recommend that the specified competent authorities also conduct a thorough investigation of the circumstances set forth in the second part,” the statement is indicated.
The agency also expressed readiness for cooperation and interaction with international organizations to improve the Russian and world anti -doping programs.
Vitaly Smirnov: There was no system and cannot be
The head of the independent public anti -doping commission Vitaly Smirnov expressed an opinion according to which there was and cannot be any state manipulation system in the Russian Federation.
“We received a report of McLaren, saw and heard a press conference. Now the materials are translated into Russian. My personal belief is that there was no and cannot be a state of organized and supported system of manipulation. This is disgusting to the very nature of what is being done,” Smirnova quoted Sport -Express .
The official also noted that the Russian side does not deny the existence of a doping problem. But the topic that is raised in the report of Richard McLaren is not the problem of one country.
