Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin is studying the report of an independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) led by Richard McLaren and checking the information on a special website created after the report, RIA Novosti . reports
Peskov noted that one should not react emotionally to the mention in the report of the alleged “state conspiracy” in Russia on the substitution of doping samples.
“The Ministry of Sports of Russia declares with all responsibility that there are no state programs to support doping in sports and will continue the fight against doping from a position of zero tolerance,” the agency commented on the publication of the report.
Earlier on Friday, the head of WADA, Richard McLaren, presented the second part of the report on doping in Russian sports. According to the agency, more than a thousand Russian athletes in 30 sports are associated with doping.
The report covers the period from 2011 to 2015. Then, McLaren writes, a system was developed in Russia to conceal positive doping tests. Most of the athletes (more than 80%) mentioned in the report represented summer sports.
