The Ministry of Sports responded to the WADA commission’s assertion that there is a doping program in Russia

In Russia, there is no state program to support doping in sports. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Sports. This is how the agency responded to the second part of the report of the head of the commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Richard McLaren.

“The Ministry of Sports of Russia declares with all responsibility that there are no state programs to support doping in sports and will continue the fight against doping from a position of zero tolerance,” the message says.

On Friday, head Richard McLaren presented the second part of the report on doping in Russian sports.

WADA has found that more than a thousand Russian athletes in 30 sports are linked to doping. According to McLaren, 12 athletes who received medals at the Sochi Olympics used doping. Among them are four gold medalists.

The report covers the period from 2011 to 2015. Then, McLaren writes, a system was developed in Russia to conceal positive doping tests. Most of the athletes (more than 80%) mentioned in the report represented summer sports.
