The head of the American anti-doping agency demanded that Russia be temporarily expelled from the IOC

The head of the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), Travis Tygart, demanded that Russia be temporarily excluded from the International Olympic Committee.

According to him, such a measure should be in place until Russia meets all the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Agency. In addition, as Tygart said, until then, competitions should not be held in Russia.

Travis Tygart made such a statement after the publication of the second part of Richard McLaren's report on the state program to support doping in Russia.

• Canadian law professor Richard McLaren, who works on behalf of the World Anti-Doping Agency, presented the second part of the report on December 9th. It says that over a thousand Russian athletes were involved in a government program aimed at hiding positive samples.
• Among others, two Sochi gold medalists were involved in it. The report did not name them, but Meduza determined that they were bobsledders Alexander Zubkov and Alexei Voevoda. Both of them denied doping.
• The first part of the McLaren report came out in July 2016. Based on the professor's findings, international sports federations banned many Russian athletes from participating in the Olympics, including almost the entire athletics team.
