Fail Alsynov and Ruslan Gabbasov, leaders of the NGO "Bashkort", were detained in Ufa and held until the evening before being released without charges or administrative protocols being filed. on December 10 This was reported by Radio Liberty.
Alsynov and Gabbasov were detained on the square named after Salavat Yulaev, where the “Congress of the Bashkir people” was to be held, the main organizer of which was “Bashkort”. The police said that they were carrying out an inquiry into a criminal case about the beating in 2015 of a participant in the congress of the pro-government organization World Bashkir Kurultai (WKB). However, the detainees themselves and their associates believe that the detentions are connected exclusively with the forum organized by Bashkort.
This performance is repeated year after year. In November last year, Alsynov and Gabbasov were detained as part of the same criminal case before the opening of the congress of the World Kurultai of the Bashkirs, which was supposed to demonstrate loyalty to the current leadership of the republic. "Bashkort" then sharply criticized the behind-the-scenes selection of congress delegates and argued that the executive committee of the VKB did not reflect the interests of the Bashkir people.
