The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the ceasefire in Syria

The UN General Assembly urged to stop hostilities in Syria, reports Reuters .

The resolution was adopted on November 9 by a majority vote. 122 countries advocated the adoption of the document, against 13, including Russia, Belarus, Iran, DPRK and Syria.

Speaking at the meeting, the constant representative of Russia at the UN Vitaly Churkin pointed out the “serious shortcomings” of the document. He noted that in the adopted resolution, "the reasons for the origin and development of the conflict in Syria are incorrectly defined, the indictment of the country's authorities goes off scale."

Earlier, Russia and China blocked the draft UN resolution, which required a seven -day ceasefire in Aleppo. Moscow said that this would allow the rebels to regroup and strengthen their positions and aggravate the situation in Syria.

On December 6, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, announced the temporary stop of hostilities in East Aleppo to withdraw a civilian population from the city. As a result, 8.5 thousand people left the city per day.
