The Skeleton Latvian team, including the current world title, Martin Dukurs, decided to boycott the 2017 World Cup in Sochi. This was reported on the official website of the national team of Latvia.
“Enough time has passed since the first publications of WADA and the IOC about dirty athletes in our sport. As members of the Skeleton community, we feel that it can be done even more so that everything is right. And now, after the new information received, we say “enough,” the national team noted.
Athletes emphasized that they would be happy to take part in the World Championship “on any planet highway”, but they will not perform at the event in Sochi, “where the spirit of the Olympic movement was stolen in 2014”.
