Senator Macaconell - for investigating the intervention of the Russian Federation in US elections

The leader of the majority in the Senate Mitch MacConnell supported the US Congress investigation of Russian intervention in the US election. He stated that the Senate Intelligence Committee is more than capable of investigating this case, reports Politico.

"It is obvious that any external violation of our cybersecurity is alarming, and I strongly condemn any attempts to do this," MacConnell told reporters at a press conference in Capitol on Monday.

McConnell rejected the requirements for the creation of a special committee, saying that the Senate would investigate this in the usual order. He emphasized that foreign intervention in the US election "simply cannot be a one -party issue."

“This is an important topic, and we intend to consider it on a two -party basis,” said McConnell, adding that “Russians are not our friends.”

McConnell also noted that the Senate Committee on Armed Forces, headed by John McCain, will overview the state of cybersecurity in one of the Senate subcommittee.
