Media: Washington can impose sanctions against the leadership of the GRU

The United States may impose sanctions against the leadership of the Russian GRU. This was reported by CBS News with reference to a certain high -ranking official of the American administration.

It is alleged that Washington is deeply convinced that the cyber attacks on the server of political forces of the United States were organized by Russian military intelligence in order to contribute to the arrival of Republican Donald Trump to the White House. Among these attacks, the theft of correspondence from the resources of the national committees of the Republican and Democratic Parties and the Committee of the Democratic Party for holding elections to Congress is mentioned. As noted, the leaders of the parliamentary factions of both parties support the investigation of cyber attacks, and also protect the CIA from Trump attacks, which continues to deny the intervention of Moscow in the election campaign.

Adam Schiff, senior member of the Committee of the House of Representatives on Intelligence, also calls for sanctions. To do this, the congressman noted, both chambers must conduct a joint investigation.

As it became known on December 9, the CIA in its secret report directly stated that Moscow had intervened in the US presidential election to help defeat Trump. Earlier, the American administration believed that the goal of Russia was to discredit the most elected process.
