The ECHR ordered Russia to pay compensation to those detained at the “March of Dissent” in 2007

The European Court of Human Rights ordered Russia to pay compensation to Garry Kasparov, Lev Ponomarev, Alexander Averin and four other people detained during the "March of Dissent" in Moscow on November 24, 2007. This was reported on December 13 by the Internet edition of the Republic, citing a court decision .

The court concluded that the applicants' rights to freedom of assembly, a fair trial and liberty and security of person had been violated and ordered Russia to pay compensation of 5,000 euros to each and pay legal costs of 3,000 euros per person.
