Imagine what impressive illumination would have turned out in solidarity with the dead during the uprising in Warsaw - the same bombing, the same battles in the city as in Aleppo, are the same indifference. And in memory of the victims of Auschwitz or Dachau, the tower could again be turned off and walk with a pierced head, waiting for the turn to the excursion and it would be possible to order your glass of champagne and drink it in honor of all those shot, burned and strangled. In this situation, the most important thing is that sadness is genuine, the tower is black, champagne is properly chilled.

I am far from the intention to declare Paris the world capital of cynicism - no, this cynicism is complacency, it is soullessly smeared throughout the West. It all began, by the way, with peace in Syria, with unwillingness to actively interfere in the situation, quarrel with Russia, to tear off a nuclear deal with Iran. As a result of the useless zone, there was no one over Syria - and vultures that kill people fly in the sky of a long -suffering country. And now, according to the air defense, Assad already appears, but also by ISIS - and the victims of this defense may well become not only military, but also civilian aircraft, so the story with the Malaysian Boeing will be repeated in a completely different sky, but for the same reasons.

For reasons of impunity. It is this impunity that is the main result of the Western policy of the complacency of recent years, the essence of the foreign policy achievements of the Barack Obama administration. And in fact - if the Americans abandoned real intervention in the conflict, if they prefer to save people with the cannibals, then what now remains the French except to exercise in illumination?

Over the years, completely new rules have been formed by which our civilization can now develop. The first - if the country has nuclear weapons, then its regime can destroy any number of people: we do not want the third world war. The second is to influence such a country only with the help of economic sanctions, but so as not to cause significant damage to your interests: all the same, after all, the cannibalic regime will collapse sooner or later, so where to rush and why lose money. The third - civilized world is very important its values, he will teach them others, but will allow himself to elegantly deviate from these values, if we are talking about other people's lives or momentary interests.

This is the fact that in the encyclopedias of the future they will call the "rules of Obama" - even if the outgoing American president believes that he tried to resist the cynicism by the power of his unconditional charm. This era already gives its undoubted fruits. People in different countries of the world trust professional politicians less and more - storytellers who simply tell them what they want to hear. To negotiate with evil becomes so natural that the discussion is more about the technique of agreement. The Western world is full of gentlemen-cadets in such quantities that even the cautious angel Merkel, who is trying to simply adhere to the policy of common sense, looks like an epic heroine and the last hope.

And that's right. Because our last hope, as it always happens during the time of collective deadly, is really the hope of common sense.
