The authorities of the Austrian Brownow-on-Inna changed their minds to demolish the house in which Adolf Hitler was born. It is reported by BBC News.

The building will be restored and transferred to an organization that helps people with disabilities. According to local authorities, the refusal to demolish the house is a “life -affirming message” and “a clear symbol against the crimes committed by Hitler”.

In addition, the destruction of the buildings would be followed by accusations that the authorities want to destroy the “part of the burdensome history”, the regional administration believes.

The decision to save the house followed after the National Council of Austria approved the expropriation of the structure, the BBC notes. The owners of the house, the family Pommer, repeatedly refused to sell it to the authorities.

The demolition of the house where Hitler was born in October was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Austria Wolfgang Sobotka.
