Chechen police are looking for three militants who fled after an attack on police officers in Grozny, TASS reports , citing a source in law enforcement agencies.
According to the source, police are looking for three suspects aged 18 to 20 years. “According to our data, they previously left their permanent place of residence and became part of an ISIS cell. The criminals may be armed,” he said.
According to the Caucasian Knot, two suspects, Ibragim Mazhaev and Istamul Mamaev, are wanted. According to the publication, they previously swore allegiance to the Islamic State. The directions also indicate the name of the third suspect - Khamatkhan Mintaev. Wanted persons may be armed with “automatic weapons.”
A source of the “Caucasian Knot” in law enforcement agencies noted that Mazhaev’s older brother “fought in Syria several years ago, and after returning he was convicted and released early from prison.”
Residents of Grozny told the publication that security forces “are detaining all close relatives and acquaintances of those killed, as well as relatives of those detained and wanted participants in the attack on police officers.”
Earlier, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced the murder of four suspects in an attack on police officers in Grozny. After this, the group entered the house of one of the police officers, but did not find him and disappeared. The shootout occurred during an attempt to stop a car on one of the city streets.
