Garage announced plans for 2017

The Garage Museum of Contemporary Art has announced a program for 2017. Among the main events of the year, projects dedicated to the centenary of the October Revolution, the first Triennale of Russian Contemporary Art and the first Russian exhibition Takashi Murakami.

By the centenary of the 1917 revolution, Garage prepared an exhibition program in the center of which the projects of artists who turn in their work to the most urgent social, cultural and political problems of today, studying the little -known or completely unexplored realities of modern Russia or preparing new works specifically for the show in Moscow.

From March 10 to May 14, 2017, the first Triennale of Russian contemporary art will be held in the Garage. It will be accompanied by an exhibition-study of the archival collection and the fourth project of the Garage Atrium Commissions program-installation of Moscow artist Irina Korina.

In the summer, “garage” will present four personal exhibitions of Stephen Cauts and Paul Hartfield, David Ajae, Bazhada Summies and Raymond Pettibon, in the fall, the first Russian exhibition of Takashi Murakami will be held in the museum.

Throughout the year, new works by EA Rondinona and Takashi Murakami, created specifically for the Garage Museum, will be shown on the art Square.

The Garage is preparing a new publishing series Artist's Write , the first book of which will be the collection of the essay of the artist Viktor Pivovarov.

At the end of the year, the course of training of deaf guides developed by the inclusive department will end. The result of the course will be the acquisition of art museums in Moscow by competent guides who can develop and conduct excursions in the brutal language.

Long -term research projects will receive a new development. Five artists - Vyacheslav Kuritsyn, Vladimir Logutov, Andrei Monastyrsky, Kirill Savchenkov and Olga Chernysheva - will continue to study the archive collection of the museum. A group of experts of the NIM different countries was invited to the study of the archive of Leonid Talochkin and participation in the 5th International Garage Conference, which will be dedicated to the archives of unofficial art.

Materials of the Garage Archive will be available to the English audience thanks to two books prepared by the International Publishing Program: on the history of Russian performance from 1910 to 2016 and domestic art critics from 1993 to the present.
