New Year's parting words

Dear editors !

Frankly, despite all my love for my native newspaper, despite the deepest sense of responsibility to its readers, which I must inform about what is happening and give him a proper assessment, I can hardly find time and effort to take up, so to speak, a feather. So many things and worries are lying on me from all sides.

In general, I can’t sit down and write in detail about the results of the outgoing year. And there, you yourself understand, the Olivier salad, the speech of the President of Russia, champagne, vodka, vodka ... In general, the first of January we will all clearly feel the New Year, the same feelings will continue in the coming days - until January 8. And, you know, at such a time it is difficult to concentrate on the intense work of thought - the head is too heavy, and thoughts are not at all about that.

Therefore, dear friends, I will not fail any results of the year of the past, I will better congratulate all of you with the impending three weeks of the Christmas-New Year's-native-naval holidays and wish to safely survive them. To do this, of course, we need heroic health and many different medicines. I wish to add all countless reports and applications, successfully finish all the money, accept all the tests and exams, in general, safely complete all the necessary things.

And besides, I will give everyone a kind of New Year's parting words. The coming year, dear colleagues, will not be easy for us. The money will become even less, and our salaries should become even higher. Therefore, alas, not all of us will be able to remain employees of universities and scientific organizations.

Yes, of course, it is unlikely that any of us will be happy with the prospect of dismissal or retirement. But in everything you need to see a good side. Think that after dismissal you will not have to drag to work in crowded transport every day, that you will have more time to communicate with your grandchildren. You can finally realize many dreams that there was not enough time for - to learn how to embroider a cross or learn English.

Separately, I would like to contact those colleagues who work in Fano organizations. For you, the coming year will be especially difficult: again, academic science is subjected to severe criticism from REN TV, Vera Mysina and Vladimir Soloviev. Important solutions and unexpected moves are not excluded. Fasten.

But to all of us, wherever we work, it is important to understand that everything that is done is done by ordering the highest power and for the good of the state. You need to be able to put your good below the benefit of society and the country.

And here is another thing that can help us if we accept it. There are more and more confirmations of what I was talking about in the last column, - Vera is moving the mountains. More recently, a colleague comes to me and begins, of course, to pour out his negative emotions. Have I seen the results of the Presidential Grants Competition for young candidates of sciences in physics and astronomy? I answer that, of course, I have not seen: I have not been young for a very long time. The colleague continues: disgrace, they say, our native university received three grants, Fian-one grant, St. Petersburg phizteh-one grant, Moscow-not a single one, and myfi, some kind of myfi there,-as many as five grants!

I reply that maybe there were many strong guys in MEPhI, and he answered: I looked at their publications, some have conferences and articles in “Brief Posts on Physics Fian” - and are these strong guys? And then it hit me in my mind - I remembered the words of the rector of MEFI, that faith helps the university! After all, the other contender for a grant, let us put, actively works and is printed in all sorts of cool foreign magazines, but he does not have faith, only secular vainness in his head. And otherwise, maybe he does not even send his manuscripts to high -impetous publications, but he works in an institution where everything is imbued with faith and goodness, including the results of the work. So, dear colleagues, by your faith will be rewarded to you.
