The Syrian Islamic coalition "Jaysh al-Fatam" (Ar. Army of conquest) and one of its main structures-"Jabhat Fatam Esh-Sham" (former "Jabhat al-Nusra")-rejected their involvement in the murder of the Russian ambassador in Ankara Andrei Karlov. This was reported by the American monitoring center Site Intelligence Group.
A statement widespread on behalf of the Jaysh al-Fatam previously on Wednesday, the groups were called a fake.
As TASS reported , the document was distributed by the Iraqi television channel Al Sumaria. It claimed that the former Turkish police mover Mert Altyntash, who shot Karlov, was a member of the Jabhat Fatam Esh-Sham. The murder of the ambassador was called "the first act of revenge for women, children and the elderly from Aleppo, as well as for the blood of Muslims spilled around the world."
At the same time, on Wednesday, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said the investigation established the relationship of the killer with Feto, the organization of the Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen. “This person was a member of Feto, there is no need to hide it. The place where he was growing, and his current state indicates this. And we must openly say that inside our police structures, like in the army, there are still members of this dirty organization,” Erodgan emphasized at an ankara press conference.
On Monday evening, Karpov was mortally wounded at the opening of the photo exhibition "Russia through the eyes of a traveler: from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka" in the center of contemporary art in Ankara. The ambassador was delivered to the hospital, where he died of wounds.
22-year-old Altyntash was dismissed from the police after trying to coup in July 2016. Having shot the ambassador, he shouted at a mixture of Arabic and Turkish languages: "Allahu Akbar! Do not forget about Aleppo! Do not forget about Syria! Only death will stop me. Everyone who participated in the oppression will be paid for this - one after another." The attacker was killed by special forces.
The Turkish authorities consider the involvement of Altyntash as the main version in the movement of supporters of Gulen, who is accused of trying to try. It is noted that Altyntash has never been in Syria and has not been seen in relations with Syrian groups. At the same time, he studied in one of the schools created by the Gulen movement, and during the coup attempt to go on vacation for two days in Turkey. Gulen himself, living in the United States, rejected involvement in the murder of the Russian ambassador, calling such statements "ridiculous."
On Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded Karlov the title of Hero of Russia. The corresponding decree is published on the Kremlin website.
The document notes that the highest title of Russia was awarded to Carlov for the "manifested resistance and courage" as an ambassador in Turkey and for the "great contribution to the implementation of the foreign policy" of Russia ".
Meanwhile, the government approved the procedure for the burial of the dead or deceased ambassadors of Russia. The document signed and entered into force on Wednesday is published on the official portal of legal information. It provides for giving military honors during the burial of military honors, as well as compensation to relatives of the costs of transporting the body and funeral.
On Wednesday, the presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Karlov’s murder was a blow to the back and for the Turkish authorities. “What happened is also directed against the Turkish state. Because our Turkish partners fewer anyone could be interested in such a development of events,” Peskov said. He noted that Russia and Türkiye are implementing several large projects, including the Turkish Stream and Akkui NPP. “Therefore, this is also a blow to the back and the Turkish state,” the press secretary said.
According to Peskov, the death of the ambassador caused serious damage to the prestige of Turkey. “You know, any country is responsible for ensuring the security of diplomatic missions in its territory and diplomatic representatives. This is prescribed in the Vienna Convention of diplomatic relations. Therefore, this, of course, is a very serious blow to Ankara,” he explained.
Carlov’s funeral will be held on Thursday. Where they will take place until it is reported. At noon, the ambassador will be rejected in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The sacrament will be performed by Patriarch Kirill.
On Wednesday, the coffin with the body of Karlov was delivered to Vnukovo Airport. The meeting was attended by Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Turkey Sergey Lavrov and Mevlut Chavushoglu. The soldiers of the Preobrazhensky regiment stood in an honorary guard.
In connection with the funeral of the ambassador, Putin transferred the annual large press conference appointed to Thursday . The president will personally take part in the ceremony. The day before, speaking at a concert on the occasion of an employee of state security agencies, Putin said that Karlov’s murder causes special pain to Russia. “In Istanbul, Russian ambassador Andrei Gennadievich Karlov was meanly killed. Now a thorough investigation of all the circumstances of this crime is being conducted,” Putin said. “This (murder. - Ed.) Is, of course, a special pain.”
Karlov became the fourth ambassador of Russia and the USSR, killed in the performance of duties. In 1829, dozens of fanatics broke into the Russian embassy in Tehran and arranged a random massacre. 37 people were killed, including the head of the diplomatic mission, poet Alexander Griboedov. It was possible to identify it only by scars on the hand obtained during the duel. In 1923, during a trip to Lausanne, the envoy of the USSR was killed in Italy Vaclav Vorovsky. In 1927, an activist of the Russian white emigration Boris Korte shot the Soviet ambassador to Poland Petra Voikov.
