The defendant in the repost case was held overnight in police custody before a court hearing on a preventive measure.

A resident of Yekaterinburg, Pavel Volkov, who was charged with inciting hatred (under Article 282 of the Criminal Code), spent the night at the police station before being secretly taken to court on December 21 by a lawyer to consider the issue of a measure of restraint. This was told to OVD-Info by a member of the Public Monitoring Commission for the Sverdlovsk Region, Sergei Zykov, who arrived that day to check in OP-5. The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg placed Volkov under house arrest.

The investigation into the criminal case had been going on since February - as Zykov said from the words of Volkov, the case was either opened or closed. The case was based on reposts of two videos and one song on Volkov's page on the Vkontakte social network (all of them were published without Volkov's own comment), as well as some inscription on the wall in the entrance.

On December 20, Volkov was unexpectedly detained and taken to the Investigative Committee, and from there to police department No. swore and waved his arms on the threshold of the UK building. Volkov spent the night at the police station, where they refused to let the lawyer in charge of his criminal case through, although he indicated his name and contacts while drawing up the detention protocol.

Only the next day, December 21, members of the PMC were able to get into the police department, who for a long time were not informed about the reasons for Volkov's detention, or about the existence of a criminal case in general. When Volkov was taken from OP-5 to the court, the members of the commission also refused to tell where exactly he was being taken. Later they managed to find out that he was in the Leninsky District Court, where not an administrative case of petty hooliganism is being considered, but a decision is made to select a measure of restraint in a criminal case.
