Russian President Vladimir Putin would have preferred that the religion of Islam would not be mentioned next to the word "terror". He stated this during a large press conference on December 23.
The journalist of the publication “Caucasus Today” asked the president, it would not be logical and correct to ban the media to call the well -known terrorist group “Islamic State” (IGIL, ISIS, Daish , is prohibited in the Russian Federation), since “terror has nothing to do with Islam or statehood.”
“What publication are you?“ Caucasus Today ”? You can forbid something? It seems to me that this is absolutely hopeless,” the president joked.
At the same time, he admitted that he would like the words "terror" and "Islam" not to use together. “I would prefer that they really do not use Islam next to the“ terror, ”the president said.
It should be noted that a year ago, the Russian media tried to replace the name "Islamic state" in the materials with the abbreviation of Daish (reduction from Al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-scham, which means "Islamic state of Iraq and Levant"). This name of the group (Daish) is generally accepted in the Arab world, but it has not taken root in the Russian Federation. In addition, such a replacement itself seems to be low-fragmented, since the word "Islamic" still remains in the name (... al-Islamiya ...), although not in Russian.
The TV presenter and head of the MIA Russia Today Dmitry Kiselev explained the desire to switch to Daish with the wishes of the head of the Council of the Muftis of Russia Ravil Gainutdin, as well as the official requests of the inter -religious council of Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church: "After all, Islam should not be associated with the barbarism of terrorism." In the commentary of Komsomolskaya Pravda, Kiselev even announced that the use of ISIS "instead of" Daish "makes Russians as accomplices of terrorists.
At the same time, a number of prohibited terrorist organizations are listed on the FSB website , in the names of which there are the word "Islamic" or "Muslim".
In addition, the Russian president himself was previously repeatedly seen in public use by ISIS , even at a meeting with France President Francois Hollande, who calls this organization Daish.
The Islamic State - an Islamist terrorist organization operating in the territory of Iraq and Syria, is prohibited in the Russian Federation. The organization was created in October 2006.
According to TASS, IS militants have at their disposal a large number of weapons and military equipment, including portable anti-aircraft missile systems, tanks, armored personnel carriers and American-made howitzers. According to American intelligence and statements by the Iraqi authorities, IS militants also have chemical weapons and have repeatedly used IPRIT and ammunition containing chlorine in Syria and Iraq.
According to the CIA, the number of groups is about 30 thousand people, while the Iraqi authorities declare 200 thousand citizens of 80 states are fighting in the ranks of the militants, including France, Great Britain, Germany, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Canada, the Russian Federation and the CIS countries.
