The developer of the mobile game Pokemon Go, Niantic Labs, has released a version of the game announced in September, designed for the Apple Watch smart watch, writes The Verge .

The publication notes that the Apple Watch app is not a full version of the game, and players still need a smartphone to catch Pokemon. However, now fans of the game who own an Apple Watch will be able to take out their iPhone less often, since the watch will notify them about nearby Pokemon and PokéStops. The Apple Watch version of the game also counts steps taken and reports when the player receives a medal and when a Pokemon hatches from an egg.
