In Moscow, on December 22, the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the support of the Russian Guard, detained six citizens of Kyrgyzstan and one Russian, allegedly supporters of the Islamic association Tablighi Jamaat.

A criminal case was initiated for participation in the activities of an extremist organization (part 2 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code), at least one arrested person was charged under this article - Satybek Kubatov, who, according to RIA Novosti, pleaded guilty.

Gazybek Kubatov, Kanybek Suyunduk, Aslambek Kamchytbekov, Akhmet Dzhumaev and two other defendants, whose names were not named, were also sent to the pre-trial detention center. According to the investigator, Dzhumaev was the leader of the cell.

The detained members of the Tablighi Jamaat allegedly carried out "ideological indoctrination of new supporters, studied forbidden literature, and discussed plans to create an Islamic caliphate in Russia." The recruited members of the movement were supposedly sent for training in camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The international religious organization Tablighi Jamaat was recognized as extremist in Russia in 2009.

According to the Sova information and analytical center, this ban was unlawful, since the Tablighi Jamaat association is engaged in the propaganda of Islam and was not seen in any calls for violence.
