Rector GITIS met with students

On the evening of December 23, the rector of the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS) Grigory Zaslavsky met with representatives of the Studio Faculty of Theater Council and promised to convene a scientific council in January 2017, at which the project will be discussed by the draft theater and producer faculties.

“He emphasized that representatives of the Theater Faculty will be in advance of the agenda of the meeting and, if possible, will be present in full force, without fail - the dean of the theater faculty N.S. Pivovarova. - said the undergraduate Gulnara Iskakova. - He also said that the association program will be prepared and documented, all students and teachers will be able to familiarize themselves with it. Natalya Pivovarova remains the dean of the Theater Faculty, the contract with her is extended. ”

On December 21, at a meeting of the Academic Council, Zaslavsky announced the merger of the production and theater faculties of GITIS, explaining this decision by the fact that “almost all Russian festivals are supervised by theatrical critics,” so people of this profession need knowledge and producing.

Students, graduates and teachers of GITIS turned to Zaslavsky, as well as the Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky and the chairman of the Union of Theater Workers of Russia, Alexander Kalyagin, pointing out a violation of the charter of the university when making a decision on the merger of faculties and demanding a repeated convocation of the academic council in the full composition and open discussion "with the participation of teachers and students interested in the fate of their faculties."

Teachers GITIS Aleksey Bartoshevich and Dmitry Trubochkin submitted an official petition to the re -conduct of the academic council in full force and revising the confluence of faculties.

Students of the Faculty of Theater GITIS said that they were stopping attending classes in protest against a decision on a merger. On the afternoon of December 23, they held in the courtyard of GITIS the artistic action "#carry", dedicated to the rights of students.

The secretary of the rector of the Pugal participants by the police, the outfit was called to Malya Kislovsky, but the police quickly left, not finding the reasons for the call. At the end of the performance, the rector himself appeared at the Theater Faculty and, according to the students, threatened to dismiss the faculty of the faculty of the faculty of the faculty of Natalya Pivovarov for a call to the strike. Later, Zaslavsky confirmed this intention in an interview with MK , and threatened the traasting students.

The rector’s statement about the dismissal of Dean Pivovarova was commented by the head of the Department of History of the Foreign theater of the Theater Faculty, the oldest teacher GITIS, Shakespeare, professor Alexei Bartoshevich:

“No one has the right to dismiss a person in the ballots after a serious accident. It is strange to even talk about this, this does not correlate with the law at all. As for the charges against Pivovarova of incitement, I do not have such information. I am convinced that the rector cannot have worthy arguments of this kind. It is no secret that Grigory Zaslavsky intends to change the leadership of the theater faculty. We all signed an employment contract for a year, and until this year will expire, there is no right to dismiss the dean, which the rector knows very well. I said this to Grigory Zaslavsky in the face and repeat to you: this is just a deeply erroneous ill-conceived policy of the rector, maybe it comes from him from inexperience, because he has just come to this position ... not to mention the fact that an attempt to combine theaters and producers contradicts the very idea of ​​civilization and economics! ”

The situation was commented by another respected teacher GITIS, Evgeny Kamenkovich, artistic director of the workshop of the Faculty of Gitis, professor, artistic director of the theater "Workshop of Peter Fomenko":

“All this is a very sad situation. I am also trying to influence her, yesterday I spoke with the rector, very much asked to re -revise the question of confluence, to convene a scientific council again and how to figure it out. The rector did not answer my request. Professor Bartoshevich came to him with the same question, and a frustrated one came out. It is important not to forget one thing: students are always right! I just read the rector’s statement to the dean of Pivovarova ... Of course, all faculties live their own separate life. I personally have no theater complaints about the dean, I know her well and take it normally. What can I say ... Now I’ll go to GITIS again, I will try to talk with the rector. ”
