Moscow "United Russia" change the leadership on the eve of the municipal elections

On the eve of the municipal elections in the Moscow branch of United Russia (EP), the secretary will be replaced by: the age deputy Nikolai Gonchar, according to Gazeta.ru , will be replaced by 49-year-old Andrei Metelsky, the head of the party faction in the Moscow City Duma.

The potter confirmed his departure, but refused to talk about possible successors: "I need to give a way to the young. I have turned 70 years old. The most important thing is to leave with dignity. At a certain age, he begins to understand this." During the latest elections to the State Duma, a potter in a single -mandate district in the Central Administrative District bypassed the candidate from Parnassus Professor Andrei Zubov and the representative of Open Russia Maria Baronov.

Sources of the "newspaper" claim that the main reason for the change of Moscow leadership of the EP is the upcoming elections of municipal deputies. September 18 next year in Moscow, elections should be held in 124 districts.

The publication indicates that control over municipal meetings actually means that the power itself is free to choose opponents, since the signatures of municipal deputies are needed to nominate the governor's elections.

At the same time, the authorities once lost the municipal elections in Moscow: in parallel with the Duma campaign in September this year, elections were held in the Council of Deputies of the Municipal District of Schukino. According to their results, deputies from EP received only seven out of fifteen mandates.

Political scientist Dmitry Orlov considers the municipal elections the most promising for the opposition: the local agenda is determining on them, on which it is convenient to earn political glasses. Oppositionists can indicate specific problems: parking, which local residents, “falling elevators” or housing and communal services problems are dissatisfied. In addition, the municipal elections have a relatively small budget, and this also increases the chances of oppositional forces to win.
