The Investigative Committee has charged three policemen from the Irkutsk region with torturing a woman

In the Irkutsk region, the Investigative Committee brought charges against three police officers in the case of torture of Marina Ruzaeva, a resident of the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye, at the Usolsky police department. This was reported on the “Public Verdict” foundation’s Facebook page.

Major Samoilov and detectives Korbut and Golchenko are accused of exceeding official powers with the use of violence (Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code). The interests of the victim Ruzaeva, with the support of the Public Verdict, are represented by lawyer Svyatoslav Khromenkov.

A mother of many children turned to human rights activists in January 2016. Ruzaeva said that on the evening of January 2, two young men with police IDs came to her home. They told the woman that her neighbor had been killed and suggested she go to the police department to see photographs of the suspects.

In the office, the woman was told to take off her boots. The police officers who brought her in put a bag over her head, stood behind her and handcuffed her. According to Ruzaeva, they demanded that the woman “tell everything.” When she asked what she had to say, one of the police officers hit her with a stun gun.

Ruzaeva was released from the police department only at night, after five and a half hours. At the same time, she was pushed down the stairs towards her husband, who came to the department to pick her up. A few days later, the woman turned to doctors, who diagnosed her with numerous bruises to her body and head and electrical burns.
