"Rain": the new ambassador to Turkey will be the presidential envoy in the Volga District

The new ambassador of Russia to Turkey will be the President’s envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich. As the rain reports , two sources close to the Kremlin reported. According to them, the appointment will occur already in the new year.

According to the interlocutor of the publication, after Kyiv refused to accept Babich as an ambassador, the question of his new place of work remained open. "Babich is a difficult leader, not all the work in the district liked his work and related officials," the source added. In addition, the interlocutor noted, the envoy and he himself had long wanted to change his job.

According to the source of the channel, the appointment of Babich as an ambassador to Turkey may indicate an increase in the role of the messenger in this country.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not confirm this information . “So far there are no solutions, the information is not true,” he said. Also, the Kremlin representative could not say when a decision was made to appoint a new ambassador.

On July 28, the Russian Ambassador to Kiev Mikhail Zurabov, who held his post since 2009, was removed by decree of Vladimir Putin. The State Duma stated that the new head of the Russian diplomatic mission would be appointed no earlier than in October, but the next day the State Duma Committee on International Affairs supported Babich’s candidacy for the post of ambassador.

At the same time, Russia, in violation of the diplomatic protocol, publicly reported plans to appoint Babich before the coordination of his candidacy with the Ukrainian side.

After that, the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Elena Mirror said that the issue of coordinating the candidacy of the new ambassador was removed from the agenda on the initiative of Kiev.

Babich graduated from the Ryazan Higher Command School of Communications, served in the Airborne Forces for four years and led the Antei Corporation in Moscow. For some time he was engaged in business, and then switched to the civil service. Babich worked in important positions in many regions: he was the deputy chairman of the Moscow Region Government, the deputy head of the administration of the Ivanovo region and the head of the Government of Chechnya. In addition, he was a deputy of the State Duma for two convocations, after which he became the president’s plenipotentiary.

The Ambassador of Russia to Turkey Andrei Karlov was mortally wounded on December 19 at the opening of the photo exhibition "Russia through the eyes of a traveler: from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka" in the center of contemporary art in Ankara. The ambassador was delivered to the hospital, where he died of wounds. Two more people were injured.

The 22-year-old Mevlut Mert Altyntash, a former Turkish police officer, who was fired after trying to the coup in July 2016, shot a diplomat. After the murder of Altyntash, on a mixture of Arabic and Turkish languages, shouted: "Allah Akbar! Do not forget about Aleppo! Do not forget about Syria! Only death will stop me. Everyone who participated in the oppression will be paid for this - one after another." The attacker was killed by employees of Turkish special forces.
