Four followers of Jehovah's Witnesses were fined in Karachay-Cherkessia

Residents of two settlements in Karachay-Cherkessia were fined in October and November for distributing literature of Jehovah's Witnesses. This, according to the Information and Analytical Center "Sova", at the end of December, was reported by the press service of the FSB border department (the village of Kurdzhinovo and the village of Mednogorsky are located in the Urup region, bordering Georgia).

Svetlana Isayeva, Nadezhda Geraskova, Svetlana Kordiyaka and Alena Kurganova were each fined 1,000 rubles under Art. 20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (dissemination of extremist materials). At the same time, as Sova points out, the witness, who stated that Geraskova offered her to read one of the banned books, later said that she had given false testimony, but the court did not take this into account. When considering the Kordiaka case, the court did not take into account the statements of witnesses that the witness for the prosecution apologized to them for his testimony, and also that on those days when Kordiaka, according to other witnesses, offered them books, she was absent from the village.

Recently, there have been regular reports of prohibited literature being found on the premises of followers of Jehovah's Witnesses in prayer houses, but community members themselves claim that this literature is being planted on them.
