Judge of the Petrozavodsk City Court of Karelia Marina Nosova sentenced the former vice-speaker of the regional legislative assembly by the unicorn Ivan Romanov to 20 years in a maximum regime with a two-year restriction of freedom after a retirement in the case of pedophilia. According to the Mediazones, 45-year-old Romanov was charged with part 1 of article 132 (sexual actions using the helpless state of the victim; from 3 to 6 years of colony), paragraph "A" of part 3 of the same article (the same actions in relation to a minor; from 8 to 15 years) and part 1 of Article 151 of the Criminal Code (involvement of a minor in the systematic power of alcohol; up to 4 years).

The verdict was more severe than the charge required. The prosecutor requested a colony for the defendant for the defendant.

Romanov himself did not plead guilty.

The criminal prosecution of the second person involved in the case - the deputy director of the Petrozavodsk River School for the educational and organizational work of Oleg Semenov - was discontinued in connection with his death. As Fontanka.ru reported , on October 10, 2015, Semenov was found hanged in the chamber of the St. Petersburg pre-trial detention center “Lebedev”.

Romanov was detained on the night of May 1, 2015 after a search in his apartment, which lasted from the middle of the previous day. About the same time, Semenov was detained. Semenov was looking for adolescents for Romanov from among the cadets of his school and brought to visit himself or to the deputy. They drank alcohol with teenagers, and when they got drunk, Romanov raped them. Semenov, as far as is known, was not charged.

It was reported about the episodes dating from January and May - June 2012.

The immediate reason for the detention of Romanov and Semenov, according to media reports, was the suicide of two cadets of the River School-17-year-old Nikolai Kostin and 16-year-old Vyacheslav Kasatkin. The teenagers disappeared on November 21, 2014, the next day after they left the Taxi from Petrozavodsk to the city of Vytegragra, the Vologda region. A few days later, cadets were found hanged in the forest near the village of Scheltozero, located on the way from the capital of Karelia to Vytegra.

Romanov was the vice speaker of the Karelia Legislative Assembly in one of the previous convocations. At the time of his arrest, he was an ordinary deputy. Among the committees in which he was then, was the Committee on Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs and Social Policy. United Russia was also the assistant director of the Kizhi Museum -Reserve, the former head of Karelia Andrei Nelidov.

After Romanov’s detention, his membership in United Russia was suspended.

The publication also reported that the mid-2000s against the unicorn opened the case under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of mild to health) for the beating of his wife then.
