
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has imposed new sanctions against Russian citizens and enterprises. This was reported by the press service of the National Security and Defense Council.
"Due to the ongoing hybrid aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine introduced additional sanctions against individuals and legal entities of the aggressor state," the report said.
State Duma deputies elected in the annexed Crimea and persons involved in the election on the peninsula were included in the sanctions list. The sanctions affected "officials of Russian law enforcement agencies and courts involved in the illegal maintenance of Ukrainian citizens in Russia."
NSDC also applied sanctions "to former leaders of Ukraine, who are wanted and hidden abroad and involved in the financing of terrorist activities and hybrid aggression of Russia against Ukraine." In addition, sanctions against legal entities controlled by Russia, involved in Russia's hybrid war against Ukraine in the information sphere and cyberspace controlled by Russia.
"To ensure transparency and synchronization of actions, all sanctions applied to individuals and legal entities are extended for one year," the National Security and Defense Council notes. The list of persons and companies that have fallen under sanctions is not given.
National Security and Defense Council also approved the project of the information security doctrine of Ukraine. "This document provides for the introduction of effective measures to counteract Russian propaganda on the basis of strict observance of the values of freedom of speech, the rights of journalists and the development of Ukrainian media," the report said.
On September 10, 2014, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the Law "On Sanctions" . According to the document, sanctions may be applied in relation to foreign individuals and legal entities, as well as under their control of companies.
September 12 of the same year, the law entered into force. On the same day, the Ukrainian government approved proposals for the National Security and Defense Council regarding the content of personal sanctions. Physicians falling under their action are prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine, their assets are blocked.
The sanctions list was repeatedly supplemented. On October 17, Poroshenko signed a decree on the extension of sanctions for another year .
