Putin signed the “law of sadists”

President Vladimir Putin signed a law expanding the grounds for the use of physical force and special means against prisoners, according to the portal for the publication of legal information.

The State Duma adopted the draft law in the first reading back in 2015, but finally in December 2016.

By the second reading, the provision that FSIN officers can use force against prisoners for violating the regime of a correctional institution was removed from the draft law. Deputy Ernst Valeev emphasized that this is “the most serious amendment.”

According to the final text of the law, a criminal correctional officer can use force to suppress a crime or disobedience, as well as to make an arrest.

In this case, special means can be used to free those forcibly detained, mass riots, and in other cases.
