Maidan in court
For 25 days, the protest of the victims in the case of the acceleration of Euromaidan "Berkut" on November 30, 2013 continued. All this time, ten participants in the action were replaced by each other, in one of the halls of the meetings of the Shevchenkovsky district court of Kyiv.
After neither the accused nor the prosecution appeared to the court, and the court hearing was once again postponed, activists simply refused to leave the room. They believe that the case is not investigated properly, and the trial is constantly delayed.
After the action was completed, on December 26, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced the former deputy deputy commander of the Berkut platoon in excess of power and official powers with the use of violence and in intentionally obstructing the activities of the journalist. The suspect, by the way, is currently held by the post of platoon commander of the regiment of special forces No. 1 of the National Police of Ukraine in Kyiv. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the issue of removing it from office is considered. Activists who spent the night in court believe that they have achieved more decisive actions from prosecutors.
In total, according to the episode of November 30, which, along with other matters of the Maidan, is conducted by the Department of Special Activities of the GPU, 17 persons are declared suspicion, with respect to five, indictment are considered in court, 10 persons are wanted. Another investigation is completed by another person involved, at the moment he is getting acquainted with the case file.
