Very strange snowmen: an ogre, a bodybuilder and Jabba the Hutt

Snowmen are fun. Even boring adults, when the snow is right, make huge balls and put them on top of each other. Usually snowmen turn out to be cute, but sometimes something goes wrong and very strange monsters appear on the streets.

Some of them are very scary.

Even Barack Obama thinks snowmen are creepy. “They all have something of a Chucky doll ,” the president admitted.

This did not stop White House staff from playing the president. The artificial snowmen decorating the grounds of the White House have been moved to the windows of the Oval Office. It turned out that the snowmen are watching the president through the window. Obama appreciated the joke.

Scientists from the Canadian University of Western Ontario made the smallest snowman. Its height is 3 microns (about 0.003 mm). Compare: the thickness of a human hair is about 75 microns. The mini snowman was created from spherical silica particles, and facial features were carved using a focused ion beam.
