The German prosecutor's office detained a migrant from Syria, suspected of involvement in a terrorist attack at the Christmas Fair in Berlin. It is reported by Reuters .

“He is suspected that in December 2016 he called a telephone from Saarbryukken and asked € 180 thousand from a contact person in Syria for the purchase of trucks, in which he would lay explosives and then drove into the crowd,” said the prosecutor Christopher Rebmen.

According to a representative of law enforcement agencies, the detainee himself does not deny involvement in the terrorist group, but at the same time states that it is not related to the terrorist attack in Berlin. The suspect explained that ISIS wanted to deceive, and return to Syria to the money received to support his family.

The truck drove into a crowd of people at the Christmas Fair on December 19, as a result of which 12 people were killed, 48 were injured. The attacker was a native of Tunisia Anis Amri born in 1992, who was shot dead by Milan’s police on the night of December 23. Later, in Tunisia, the nephew of Amri was detained , who admitted that he talked with his uncle through the secret chat of Telegram to avoid observation.

The German prosecutor's office recognized the incident. The Islamic State, which declared its involvement in the attack, published a video on December 23, where Amri promises to avenge the death of Muslims from bombing.
