
The Turkish police arrested 12 people suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack in the night club of Istanbul on New Year's Eve. It is reported by the BBC.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Numan Kurtulmush, law enforcement agencies have fingerprints and a description of the appearance of the attacker.
“We hope not only to find a terrorist, but also to establish his connections and people who provided him with support from the outside and inside the club,” said Deputy Prime Minister.
At the same time, according to the information of the ASSOCIETED PRESS, in the evening of January 2, a special forces detachment of law enforcement agencies in Turkey conducted a special operation to detain suspects in one of the houses of Zeytinburn. The operation ended to no avail.
Earlier it was reported that the police detained eight people, presumably involved in the terrorist attack. It was also noted that the attacker may be a citizen of Uzbekistan or Kyrgyzstan, who managed to hide. According to law enforcement officers, he is a supporter of the Islamic State terrorist group.
The terrorist attack occurred at the Reina Night Club. The armed man burst into the institution and opened shooting at visitors, as a result of which 39 people were killed, including one Russian woman , more than 60 people were injured.
ISIS announced involvement in the attack. It was noted that the attacker made an attack in one of the most famous nightclubs, where "Christians celebrated their religious holiday."
