On December 1, 2016, the philosophy of Indian yoga was included in the list of intangible objects of cultural heritage of UNESCO. A little earlier, on the twenty -second of October, I gave a lecture “Types of Yoga” and was also included in the protocol on an administrative offense on the “Yarovaya Law” on charges of missionary activity that I did not commit. They didn’t even let me get acquainted with the protocol. I am concerned about the very fact of complete arbitrariness, which can lead to the persecution of many of my fellow citizens who practice yoga and study Indian philosophy, completely unaware of a possible danger.
Recently on Facebook, they ardently discussed an article by an India citizen Prasun Prakash, who was watered with dirty accusations and insulted on the Internet, and then tried to penetrate the Center for the Promotion and Development of Indian Culture, founded by his father. It is amazing that they are persecuted for activities that, under any sophisticated interpretations, can be depicted as a missionary. They are pursuing for yoga-a culture with a lot of thousands of history, for yoga, the beneficial effects of which on the health is confirmed by many medical research, which even in the Soviet Union they shot and openly showed popular science films, which Ivan Efremov wrote about, which was taught by Soviet cosmonauts as one of the elements of physical training, about which Jung wrote, which was written by Jung, who was written by Jung, which was written. More than two hundred and fifty million people are actively practicing around the world - in a word, there are signs that a campaign is unfolding against a whole culture, against the great property of mankind, a very unfriendly Xenophobic company not only to yoga, but also to India itself, its traditions, its people.
On October 22, in St. Petersburg, I was invited to the Vedalaif festival in the Loft Floor Project to conduct a lecture on the types of yoga. The audience was unprepared, many first heard about Indian philosophy. I tried to give a lecture as simple as possible. Now yoga is perceived, mainly, as a means of healing. The general public does not know about the worldview that underlies it, about its high ethical and spiritual standards. Therefore, I made a special emphasis on the philosophy and ethics of yoga. I told in a lecture about those foundations that can be heard in the classroom on religious studies and eastern philosophy in our humanitarian universities. True, for this I had to make some efforts, because I had to shout out the loud music that played nearby on the stage.
About forty minutes later I was interrupted. The hall was noticeable in the hall. I did not immediately understand what was the matter, and only then I noticed the police officers who entered. Several police officers approached me: one in uniform, the other in civilian clothes. As it turned out later, there were six or seven of them: the rest went to other events of the festival, checked the documents, searched for the organizers, nervous that they were removed - official representatives of the law at a public event. I was rather rudely asked to go with them. At first they wanted to get out without a jacket, acted roughly and cheekily, intimidated and not let them come to their senses. Fortunately, in the hall was Sergey, a professional lawyer who came to the festival as a guest. He achieved to be given to get dressed. I insistently asked the employees, I was officially detained or not, and they were silent. They tried to get me quickly, but the lawyer clearly interfered with them very much. He asked to draw up a protocol, asked to present a certificate, insisted that he was going to represent my interests, demanded to allow me to draw up a power of attorney in his name. All these legal requirements, the employees silently ignored and by force attracted me to the exit to the street where the car stood. To resist employees meant to create an occasion for another, this time already a very real business, so I had to obey. Another employee in uniform approached the street. Sergei threatened them with a direct call to the prosecutor. Then one of the employees finally showed a certificate in the name of Magomedov Arsen Magomedovich, an operative of the seventy -sixth operational part. I was pushed into a police car, from Sergey dismissed, he and my friends went after a taxi.
They were taken to the 76th branch on Ligovka. Sergei called, asked what condition I was in. Opera, I remember, laughed. They asked if I would understand that I would go on trial, that the judge would ask me unpleasant questions. They persuaded to sign pre -drawn up readings. They said: you will subscribe - you will go calmly home, but no - we will put in jail for two days, we have the right. Sergei warned that I would never sign anything. According to his instructions, I refused to sign, taking advantage of the right not to give testimonies against myself under the 51st article of the Constitution. After that, they recorded a refusal. Threatened by the court. I replied that they are the executors of the law and can act within the framework of their professional duties. The district police officer asked if I understand that I was engaged in illegal missionary activities and that he was waiting for it. It was the top of the absurdity. Sarvepally Radhakrishrishnan and Mirce Eliade did not know that a simple retelling of information from their science of the whole world of works would be called missionaries and sectarian preaching. By this logic, any lecture on Indian philosophy at any university must be recognized as missionary. But I only talked about how yogis imagine the law of karma and the path of liberation! Such lectures annually give hundreds for students of different faculties. On them annually they write and protect coursework and diplomas. What would this mass of students find out that they are now illegal missionaries. The level of delirium was clearly running out.
In the duty unit among the employees there was one person of a rather intelligent appearance. I do not remember whether or not. This person asked what my religious beliefs are, how I feel about Orthodoxy, whether I have a spiritual name, whether I live at home or in the temple. It was completely incomprehensible to what all this was related to the matter. I answered him that I believe in Krishna, but in this case this is nothing to do with it, this is my deeply personal matter-to believe in Krishna, Buddha, Ktulhu or the pasta, the lecture was not about that, in addition, worshiping God-also one of the types of yoga, namely bhakti yoga. Hearing an unfamiliar concept, the employee was behind me. Then they asked where I work, I replied that we are a web programmer. They asked for a passport and took it. I sat in a reception with other detainees.
Two hours later, the operas came. He sat down at the table to write something with an awesome look. At this time, Sergey called again, said that I would call the prosecutor’s office and complain about the actions of the operas, since they are obliged to draw up a protocol and release, they have no right to detain. He sent me the number of the reception of the prosecutor on SMS. The operative said that I have the right to only one call (just like in American films about dangerous criminals!), And ordered to turn off the phone, threatened that otherwise he would use strength. I turned off the phone. Then he gave me a sheet of clean paper and said that I have two options: either I would still deny everything and then spend two days here, that is, at least 48 hours, and they will put me in the camera, and then I will go to trial, or I write a promise to be such and such a number with my signature, and then they let me go. I said that I would not sign an empty sheet of paper. Opera asked: "Are you a moron?" I replied: "As you want, call." He went out. I stayed in the reception room, some woman who was not allowed into the toilet in the cell and cursed in the cell. Other employees came and left, dealt with the current detentions. In the corner were boxes with fruits and pepper: they detained some woman for trading. She poured grapes into packages and gave very humbly to employees. She was released, the boxes were left. They detained someone else because he had not set up a car, someone else for some swearing in O'Kay. The Oducarian woman was quarreling with a woman with a woman in the cell and with the detainees. I sat for a long time. Three of the duty unit have already been released. Someone from the operas came, asked the on-duty paper “on Krishnait”, took them and left. I went to the toilet, there were double doors without spinger, and there I turned on the phone and called my friends. Those had already bustled with might and main, reassured and said that they should soon release. Soon, the duty officer and actually said that I was free and can go. I asked: “And the passport? My passport was taken away. ” She was surprised and left. Ten minutes later, I returned my passport to me. I went to the exit and, passing by the bored employee, asked for a copy of the protocol. He looked at me, as at the idol, said that I was not supposed to be any copy. How? But what about the procedural order? There was nothing to do, I went out, hugged friends and got into their car. Let's go home.
Later I learned that my case was returned by the judge in view of numerous procedural violations and the lack of a composition of the offense. The protocol in the case file was made extremely clumsy. I also learned that two months later the old protocol was destroyed and compiled a new one, taking into account the remarks of the judge. The judge has already accepted this protocol, along with a statement on an offense drawn up in a few days (!) Until my lecture. Two linden witnesses were also attached to the case - women, none of whom even heard a lecture. All this time I felt what “being under the gaze” is, which Sartre wrote about and what is meant by the words “we were born to make the kafka by the past.” No wonder I studied in graduate school, comprehending philosophy under the leadership of Valery Nikolayevich Sagatovsky. He was oppressed by the state of affairs in Russia. Unfortunately, now, a few years after his death, the situation is even more alarming, even more uncertain.
Indian philosophy very enriched Russian culture. There is a great influence of Indian thought on our Silver Age. Over the Soviet and post -Soviet years, the full academic translation of “Mahabharata” was published, over which a titanic commentary and textological work has been made, many works of Indian classics - thinkers, writers, poets were published. And who can imagine modern Russia without Indian kinematogreph? Without Indian dance? Without yoga? Without vegetarian dishes? Is this Russia really come to an end?
