Google and Apple deleted the LinkedIn application from Russian online stores

Apple and Google blocked access to LinkedIn in Appendix stores at the request of the Russian authorities. This is written by New York Times.

Apple confirmed to the publication that about a month ago the company received a request to block the application in Russia.

Removing the application from Google Play and App Store will not be able to completely limit access to the business network, the publication notes. However, this “sends a signal that countries can force technological giants” to make such a decision.

“Applications are a new point of pressure on freedom of expression,” says Rebecca McKinnon from the organization of New America.

In mid -November, Roskomnadzor demanded that the telecom operators block access to the Linkedin social network. According to the department, the social network violates the law “On Personal Data”, since its servers are not in Russian territory.

LinkedIn was launched in 2003. It is the most popular social network for searching for business contacts. About 100 million people use it monthly.
