Five questions for the second series of the new Sherlock (Caution, spoilers !!!)

On the evening of January 8, the second episode of the fourth season of Sherlock was released. In the final of the series, the audience was shown to the one whom everyone had been waiting for so long - the Third Holmes. And this is a completely unexpected character. Medusa formulated five questions for the new series about the genius detective and his relatives (and one more to Mrs. Hudson).

1. Why didn't Sherlock recognize the EVR?

Even before the beginning of the fourth season, everyone waited for the third brother of Sherlock and Microft Holmes - Sherrinford in one of the series. These suspicions were partially confirmed in the first series and at the beginning of the second episode, since Microft mentioned the mysterious Sherrinford a couple of times.

Nevertheless, at the end of the second episode it turned out that Sherlock and Microft have a sister named EVR. And she is strikingly able to reincarnate: it was the Evre that was the mysterious stranger E., with whom John Watson corresponded; Then she became his psychoanalyst, and he never suspected that she communicates with E.

You can forgive Vatson’s carelessness (in the end, he is a woeful widower who goes to a psychoanalyst to understand himself) - but how to explain that Sherlock did not recognize his own sister? Evre came to his reception (albeit under a fictional name), walked with him all evening - and suddenly a detective, who predicts the actions of others for two weeks ahead, misses this out of sight.

Of course, this can be attributed to the fact that at that moment Sherlock was under drugs. But perhaps the reason is that the detective has not seen a sister for a very long time (since childhood?). The words of the EVR hint at this: "I did not imagine you." The following question arises here: where was the EVR? From the mysterious words of Microft, we can conclude that he used to protect some close relative (not Sherlock) from different problems (or, conversely, society from this relative). Given that the EVR is able to transform, and apparently kill, she can be a criminal who was kept in imprisonment.

2. Who or what is Sherrinford?

While we know two things: Holmes have a sister of Evre, and Microft keeps a connection with the mysterious Sherrinford. Based on this, three things can be assumed.

First: Evre is Sherrinford.

Second: Sherrinford is not a person, but a place in which the EVR was held.

Third: Holmesov is actually four, and the spectators will introduce the spectators in the third series. As Holmes hinted at Sherlock at Death, the account does not necessarily stop at three.

3. Did the EVR “return” Moriarty?

Evre passes Sherlock a note with information that the main villain of the second series Kalverton Smith is going to kill someone. Sherlock, who studies the sheet, eventually finds on it the inscription “Miss Me?”, Made by Evre. The creators of the series like to use this phrase in different contexts, but first of all it belongs to Moriarty.

The series does not say anything about the possible connection of the Eur with Moriarty, but it is possible that Sherlock’s sister simply set up all those events that forced the main characters to think that Moriarty intends to pack after his death.

In Sherlock at Death, the Evre says that her parents named her in honor of the deity of the Eastern Wind in ancient Greek mythology. And the eastern wind was mentioned a couple of times in the last series of the third season.

At first, Microft told his brother: “The east wind is approaching, Sherlock. He is approaching to pick you up. ” And in the end, Sherlock himself, saying goodbye to Watson, said: “The game never ends, John, but now there will be new players in it. This is fine. In the end, the eastern wind will take us all. ” Then the detective explained that he had in mind the story of the destructive wind, which his brother told him in childhood.

Soon after this conversation, an image of a dead Moriarty appeared on all screens with the inscription "Miss Me?"

4. What does the EVR want?

So far, the actions of the sister of Holmes are difficult to explain. She, through a “common acquaintance”, agreed with Kalverton Smith, received a note from him, which directly pointed out his intention to kill someone, and then, under the guise of her daughter, Smith came to the house to Sherlock and convinced him to do this matter.

In parallel, she twice - pretending either a stranger on the street or a psychoanalyst - entered into confidence in Watson, and then confessed everything, instructed him and fired.

5. By the way! Is Watson alive?

The series ends on the fact that the EVR is almost point -blank at John Watson. What is the result with Watson is incomprehensible. Previously, bullet wounds in Sherlock led to various interchanges: when Mary Morden shot at Sherlock, he survived; When the bullet hit Mary's stomach, she died.

But if you revise the series, you can notice that the first frames of the episode show the same final scene for a psychoanalyst: the camera glides smoothly from a smoking pistol in someone’s hand (EVR?) To Watson. He lies on the floor and looks in front of him without blinking. Bad sign.

PS What to call the fan club Mrs. Hudson?

“Sherlock at Death” was remembered not only by an unexpected turn of Holmes’s brother, but also by the stunning game of actress Una Stubbs: Mrs. Hudson here is almost steeper than Sherlock. She famously drives a sports car, grabs a gun when necessary, and rather rudely treats people that she does not like (Microft, in particular).
