In Syria, a gunner from Kazan died

In June 2016, Russian captain of artilleryman Marat Akhmetshin died in Syria. This was reported by RBC with reference to the military commissariat in Kazan.

The funeral of a soldier took place in August. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia. The circumstances of the death in the military registration and enlistment office were not specified.

Information about this appeared on January 7 on the SHAHRIKAZAN website, but at the moment the news has been deleted. According to the publication, the information from which RBC cites, Akhmetshin was sent on a business trip in April, and later phoned his wife from the Syrian number. She told the publication that her husband had died under Palmyra.

During the Russian operation in Syria, 24 Russian military and 2 nurses were killed there, according to official figures. At the same time, the very first military died on the first day after the start of the operation in the republic, that is, October 1, 2015.

At the end of December, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a part of Russian troops from Syria. He also announced the readiness of the conflict participants to begin peace negotiations.
