The Federal Security Service hacked the Telegram messenger - follows from the appendix to the report of the US intelligence agencies on Russian interference in the presidential election, published by the BuzzFeed website.
It follows from the document that the attention of the FSB to Telegram was attracted by the fact that this messenger is extremely popular among Russian activists and oppositionists.
According to British intelligence, the use of Telegram is now unsafe, as the FSB gained access to correspondence inside the application.
IT consultant Vladislav Zdolnikov believes that the reports about the hacking of the application are not so clear: “If the report is genuine, most likely it does not mention the hacking of the protocol or the messenger itself, but of individual accounts that were not protected by two-factor authentication. Such a hack was used against the accounts of the oppositionists Alburov and Kozlovsky, most likely, the FSB was involved in it.”
In WikiLeaks, the report published in the media is considered fictitious, since its style does not meet the standards of the special services.
The creator of Telegram, Pavel Durov, in an interview with The Secret of the Firm, expressed distrust of the authenticity of the document. “I join Trump and WikiLeaks. If the report took place (which is unlikely - BuzzFeed is not a source of reliable information), it is most likely about the interception of authorization sms of Kozlovsky and Alburov in April 2016, ”Durov believes.
