During the New Year holidays in the suburbs of Vladivostok, an employee of the FSB border department, warrant officer Alexei Puzanov, saved six children and their teacher from a burning kindergarten. He did not talk about his actions, so the name of the hero was only found out after the fact, the Primorye 24 portal reports .
On the afternoon of January 4, Alexey Puzanov, on his day off, was driving along 3rd Shosseynaya Street in a personal car when he saw plumes of smoke from the window of one of the houses. The border guard turned around and drove up to the burning building.
On the second floor, a young girl was screaming - as it turned out later, a teacher at a private kindergarten. There were six young children in the building at that moment, and the exit was blocked by a burning staircase. Passers-by filmed the incident on their mobile phones.
As Alexey Puzanov later told Komsomolskaya Pravda, the hardest thing was to persuade the teacher to throw the children from the second floor window into his arms. The border guard caught all the children in turn, the eldest of whom was under two years old.
“I caught the children, and then my brother and I carried them to the car. They were half-naked: in tights and diapers,” explained Alexey Puzanov. “The kids were saved, but the teacher was left standing in the fire.” We found a ladder, I climbed it and helped the woman down. She was already feeling really bad. As soon as they brought her out, the roof burst into flames.”
The children and teacher waited for the doctors in Puzanov’s car. The border guard later noted that the woman did the right thing - she did not scream, but behaved calmly and gathered all the children around her. “If a child had gotten lost, hidden somewhere, I wouldn’t have been able to find him in the smoke. I don’t know the layout of the premises,” the border guard explained. According to preliminary data, the private kindergarten operated unofficially.
The head of the FSB border department for the Primorsky Territory, Nikolai Gusev, presented Alexey Puzanov with a personalized watch and nominated him for an award - the medal “For saving the dead.”
Earlier in Sochi, senior district police officer Vladimir Novikov helped a family who could not get out of a burning house on their own. The policeman was visiting friends when he heard screams from a neighboring house. He ran outside and with his friends carried three children and their mother out of the fire in a few minutes, and then returned for their father, who had lost consciousness.
The police major decided not to tell anyone about his actions. However, during the investigation, his colleagues learned about the details of what happened from eyewitnesses.
