The ISS has a two-armed Dextre manipulator , which is controlled remotely and allows you to perform actions overboard, facilitating the work of crew members.
Dextra has two movable "arms" three and a half meters long. And with these “hands”, the robot can depict the ¯_(ツ)_/¯ emoticon (also known as “pozhimalkin”).
Dextra's photo was posted by Alex Apyan, ISS Operations Specialist. The picture was taken in the process of preparing for the replacement of batteries at the station - lithium-ion ones were installed instead of nickel-hydrogen ones.
Apparently, ¯_(ツ)_/¯ is not an accident, but one of Dextra's standard hand positions. This gesture can be found on both January and earlier manipulator operations.
