Researchers from the University of Michigan, having conducted a mathematical analysis of the results of the 2016 State Duma, came to the conclusion that falsification on them has been the most large -scale since 2000. On January 11 wrote The Washington Post, on January 13, the Russian -speaking publication Meduza paid attention.
In their study, scientists also came to the conclusion that Russian falsifiers monitor scientific research on elections. This conclusion was made on the basis that some indicators in the results with very high accuracy coincided with those that should be obtained during normal distribution - the researchers suggested that this was done on purpose.
The State Duma elections were held in September 2016. According to their results, United Russia received a constitutional majority of places in the new Duma.
Immediately after the elections, the media drew attention to numerous mathematical anomalies in the voting results, which with a high degree of probability could indicate the falsification of the results.
Despite the numerous messages about the violations, they said that the elections were honest, and saw in criticism the “large -scale information campaign to discredit elections”.
In October 2016, about a third of the Russians stated that the elections were held dishonestly.
