In Omsk, the judge of the Kuibyshevsky district court Sergey Moskalenko was found hanged, RIA Novosti reports . He was suspected of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale and the murder of a bribe taker.

“We confirm that in the morning a man, Judge Sergey Moskalenko, was found in the park. Any bodily harm indicating the violent nature of death was not found on the body. A pre -investigation verification is carried out on this fact,” said Larisa Boldinova, senior assistant to the head of the Omsk region.

On Friday, Moskalenko received a notification that on January 17 at the qualification collegium of judges, the petition of the investigating authorities to give consent to his arrest will be considered. In addition, according to Boldinova, Moskalenko was one of the suspects of the murder of businessman Viktor Berg from whom, according to investigators, he received a bribe.

Earlier it was reported that the case was opened against the judge under Article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale).

According to the investigation, from 2010 to 2015, Moskalenko considered the criminal case against the former head of Omstroy-2001 LLC Berg, accused of embezzlement of money of 442 equity holders worth more than 100 million rubles, non-payment of wages to 373 employees of the enterprise and several other crimes. According to the Investigative Committee, the judge personally received a bribe from the defendant in the amount of more than 8 million rubles for more than 8 million rubles for The return of the criminal case to the prosecutor and the subsequent excuse for the acquittal.

In October 2015, Berg with signs of violent death was discovered in Omsk. After that, Moskalenko terminated the criminal case in connection with the death of the defendant.

The investigating authorities explained that the further situation in the judge’s case to develop in two ways. With the consent of the relatives of the accused, a criminal case may be terminated in connection with his death - on an unorientating basis. If relatives insist on justification of Moskalenko, the case will be investigated further and will be transferred to court. The court, in turn, has the right to input the verdict of guilt in absentia and terminate the case in connection with his death.
