On January 17 in St. Petersburg, during a traffic conflict, the driver of a Mercedes S-class car attacked an ambulance crew with a knife; the St. Petersburg police are clarifying the circumstances of the incident, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports . Eyewitnesses say that before the arrival of law enforcement officers, doctors themselves neutralized the man.
The incident occurred around 15:00 on Mikhailovskaya Street. According to the police, the ambulance collided with a luxury car. “Two men got out of the Mercedes, one of them had a knife. They got into a verbal altercation with the ambulance driver,” the police press service told Interfax.
The St. Petersburg department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that the conflict was noticed by police officers patrolling the territory and managed to prevent unlawful actions. Traffic police officers also arrived at the scene of the incident to draw up a report on the accident.
Eyewitnesses on social networks claim that the attacker was subdued by the ambulance officers themselves before the police arrived. The police, according to the second witness, arrived only a few minutes later.
The city ambulance station was unable to promptly comment on the incident. According to the RG, the incident occurred with a private emergency medical service, which also receives emergency calls. Taking into account the fact that the driver remained to register the accident, the publication assumes that the patient was not in the car.
Earlier, on January 10, a 21-year-old young man died in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The medical team that was on the way to his call said that they were late due to a conflict with the driver who blocked the ambulance’s path. According to them, the woman behind the wheel did not give way, and her passenger behaved aggressively, making it difficult for doctors to get to the patient.
