Residents of a Chechen village at a national gathering decided to expel militant families from the republic

At a gathering, residents of the Chechen village of Kurchaloi decided to expel the families of militants from the republic. The reason for the gathering, which took place on January 16, was the detention of five village residents during a special operation. As the Caucasian Knot reports , as a result of the special operation, about 60 suspects of connections with the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia were detained. Among them are five men from Kurchaloy aged 26 to 39 years.

According to the publication, speakers at the gathering called on parents to strictly control their children in order to prevent them from being involved in illegal actions by various extremist movements, and also decided to subsequently expel the families of militants from the republic.

In addition, on January 12, in another village of the Kurchaloevsky district - Tsotsi-Yurt - another meeting of residents was held who demanded the eviction of the relatives of one of those detained during another special operation. He was related to militant leader Isa Muskiev, who was killed in 2006. Relatives of the detainees publicly repented for the actions of the young people; in the end, it was decided not to expel them, but all fellow villagers were warned that in the future the families of the militants would not forgive.

“The authorities are preparing the ground for subsequently punishing close militants or their opponents. Naturally, officials, theologians and security officials run the show. Relatives of the detainees must repent for them, and those whose family members were once killed by militants demand that the perpetrators be expelled from the republic. It’s scary to think where all this will lead,” Caucasian Knot quotes a resident of the Kurchaloevsky district.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has repeatedly ordered the expulsion of families of militants from the republic and the demolition of their houses.
