The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov , reported that two natives of the region extorted money from an entrepreneur from Surgut, imitating his voice in a telephone conversation.
“Businessman Zubair Zainadiev, who lives and works in Surgut, contacted the police. He stated that someone was calling him on my behalf and demanding that he give his car and money to the Regional Foundation named after Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov. We were interested in this blatant information and the attackers were found. They turned out to be natives of Azamat-Yurt, Gudermes region of Chechnya, Zelimkhan Khasimikov and Said Gerimsultanov. Both also live in Surgut,” Kadyrov wrote.
According to Khasimikov, he imitated Kadyrov’s voice. When he ended up in Grozny, the alleged extortionists “denied everything, citing the fact that they just wanted to joke.”
“I consider this case to be egregious, since I and the representatives of the ROF have never asked anyone for money. The foundation is engaged in charity and helps not only the residents of our republic, but also thousands of people in different countries of the world. In addition to this incident, in the Periscope mobile application, impostors create accounts in my name and distribute various contradictory information that is allegedly related to some of my statements or actions, deceive people by giving out false phone numbers on my behalf,” the head of Chechnya continued.
Kadyrov did not specify whether a criminal case had been opened, but noted that “the attackers tried to discredit the reputation of the ROF and the Kadyrov family, but they did not succeed, because people know how we treat our people, honor and conscience.”
