Assange abandoned extradition in the United States

The founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange refused extradition to the United States, as he believes that the American authorities did not fulfill his requirements completely. It is reported by Associated Press.

Assange demanded immediate pardon for the former American military analyst Bradley Manning, who was convicted in 2013 for the transfer of WikiLeaks 700 thousand military and diplomatic documents.

“Undoubtedly, Barack Obama did not do what Assange achieved,” said WikiLeaks representative in the USA Barry Pollak. “Assange said that Chelsea (the new name of the manning that he took after he decided to change the floor. - Ed.) Never at all should be held accountable and sentenced to dozens in prison. It was necessary to release it immediately.”

Last week, Assange promised to agree to extradition to the United States if President Barack Obama has mercy on Chelsea Manning, sentenced in 2010 for 35 years for espionage and theft of secret documents. “If Obama has mercy on manning, Assange will agree to extradition to the United States, contrary to the Ministry of Justice’s unconstitutional accusations,” the WikiLeaks Twitter said .

On January 17, Obama reduced the sentence of the former analyst of the intelligence of the US Army by almost 30 years, now manning should be released on May 17.

During his last press conference, Obama, as president, said that the mitigation of the sentence was not related to the promises of Assange. He noted that Manning had already served a "serious time" and "justice has happened."

In August 2012, the Government of Ecuador provided Assange with political asylum . Since then, he has been hiding at the embassy of this country in London. According to him, he is afraid of possible extradition from Sweden to the United States, where accusations are brought against him in connection with the disclosure of secret documents.
